About Babe's Chicken in Arlington

Y’all, our Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Arlington has been servin’ up comfort food since we opened our doors back in November 2010 – and let me tell you, we picked ourselves one heck of a spot!

We’re sittin’ pretty, right next door to the Arlington Music Hall, which has been a local treasure since way back in 1950. That beautiful old theater still sports its original marquee, proud as punch after all these years. Now here’s somethin’ that’ll tickle your fancy – since 1974, every Saturday night has belonged to Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue. That show has been a real springboard for some of country music’s finest, including our own Texas darlin’ LeAnn Rimes, plus Steve Holy, Lee Ann Womack, and a whole mess of other talented folks who’ve made it big.

Now, when you’re waitin’ on your favorite table out on our patio, take a gander at those walls – they’re built from genuine petrified wood! This stuff’s rarer than hen’s teeth and costs about a dollar per pound (and trust me, it’s heavier than a Sunday dinner). Mother Nature takes her sweet time turnin’ regular wood into this rocky treasure – we’re talkin’ a few hundred years, give or take.

Once you mosey on inside, you can’t miss the darlin’ of our dining room – that spectacular 9-foot neon cafe sign with a cowboy ridin’ high and twirlin’ his lariat like he’s fixin’ to rope the moon! This beauty used to light up the night above the Corral Cafe up in Dumas, Texas, back in the ’40s and ’50s. For those of y’all not familiar, Dumas sits up in Moore County, way up north in the Texas panhandle where the wind never stops blowin’.

And that water tower you’ll walk under on your way in? Well, sugar, those support legs have quite the story – they’re made from the actual lighting towers that used to shine down on the old Texas Stadium. Talk about keepin’ a piece of Texas history alive!

We’ve got plenty more yarns to spin while you’re enjoyin’ your meal, so don’t be shy about askin’ your server for our Babe’s Facts – perfect readin’ material while you’re finishin’ up that fresh salad. After all, good food and good stories just go together like biscuits and gravy!
